the si came as a hatchie and a crx. Fuel injection is the difference those years. in 88 they all were fuel injected and thusly, it boils down to one thing, hp.
Honda, because it's hard to look baller in your mom's Volvo.
The entire tool selection at Sears or the contents of a Snap-On truck will do you no good if you do not know how to use them.

Hf was only availible in the crx here. Ummm, really long gears. Thats the only difference, other than it was (said to be) a 1.3 liter engine.

I'm guessing it's a DX, just because they're more common and it's an '86 and it's obviously not an Si. So in 84-87, the DX consists of a 1490cc 1.5L, 4 cylinder block with a 12 valve single overhead cam head, the Si has the same. The only real difference is that the DX comes with a Keihin 2bbl carburetor, whereas the Si comes with a Multi Point Fuel Injection (MPFI) intake. The power difference is about an additional 15hp for the Si. And unlike the Si, the DX has no ECU. Oh, and the Si has a better gear ratio in the transmission. And hopefully you're not trying to compare your '86 CRX with a 2nd gen CRX Si, becasue if you are, this is no place for you.
Above your passenger side headlight, in the engine bay, there is a plate similar to a VIN. That is the engine code. If it starts with something like "EW2" then you have a DX. You can "decode" your VIN number in the link below to know pretty much exactly what kind of CRX you have.

Personally, I'd take the DX over the Si anyday.

I can answer this question.
1) We are all young at least once. People in california get a second chance at being young. (Ever see Karate Kid 3, Ralph was well into his 30's playing a 17 year old)
or
2) He liked the style of the car.
or
3) To piss off his american loving family, and be a communist by not buying American.
or
4) Fuel economy appealed to him.
or
5) He wanted a car, and any car would do.
or
Any combination of the above.
or
None of the above.
