it's less than an hour on interstate (70mph)

i was thinking big appliance ratchet straps crossed from the side toe hooks to the opposet side of the axle. with both sides done it should help dampen the sway.

my question is, how crazy or squirley could it get. i would suppose it rear end could pick up some (speed wobble) just from the arodynamics.

can anyone help predict the way this thing is gonna ride??

thanks

I've done it before. Its nasty. Rear of the car sways wicked bad. We did secure it with straps, but also we never had to go on the interstate either. Its going to be pretty bad for the rest of the rear suspension.

Go buy a couple cheap ratchet straps and wood block the suspension down in place.
That should work.
We have a tool/supply store called Harbor Freight near by ,they have catalogs too, ratchet straps are like five bucks.

I think you will be OK. I drove my wife's CRX back 5 hours back from Summit Point, WV with a well cracked Panhard rod mount. It was scary...

I tow my racing and street CRXs behind our Winnebago with a 2-wheel tow dolly, and you don't get much in the way of lateral forces.

Before getting ours welded, I made some temporary improvements with a 1/2" threaded rod going through the upper channel of the mount. That wasn't too difficult to make.

thanks, that's what i was thinking.

i'm confident in my driving, but don't want to put anyone else in danger. the kid said the body will move 5" either way by the touch of a hand, so that eliminates driving. although, that was my first choice, with my tags and a close chase vehicle.

anyone else got any input??

hey KeyEd, i'm in charleston WV....how's it doin neighbor?? watch out for that snow headed you way!!

Why not put the back wheels on the dolly and leave the front wheels on the ground? That way you could strap the body still relative to the axle. I'm not very familiar with towing our cars so I apologize in advance if that is a totally stupid idea.

lew just put the back wheels on it and secure the it thru the windows with another stap to take the stress off the rear axle. the front wheels should lock in place and not move.

but I dont know the legality of it.
