Trying to do a favor for a friend, attempting to install a 3.80 Final drive into a 1g CRX trans.

Summary: 3.8 FD has a longer CS, and ring gear with a larger ID/bolt pattern than the 1st gen crx.... is this a CG trans final drive?

Trans case:

Countershaft: 3.8 FD CS on right, 1g crx on left. 3.8 CS longer by ~1"

4.40 ring gear on the mugen diff

3.8 ring gear on the mugen diff

Thanks.
Matt

Much appreciated ... from said friend.

At least you were able to confirm some details and have a look into the trans that's been sitting in my Mom's basement (in a very nicely packed HP printer box), from when I bought it from someone in the SE a long, long time ago. biggrin.gif

I have never found anything from a later model Honda gearbox that would work inside a 1G CRX 'box. Just about everything about them is different.
So, like the poster says on the wall... you're

BTW, what's a 3rd gen CRX? Del Slo?

So, i got some feedback on ht, looks like this is 86-89 accord/integra, and with this ratio, likely from a carb'd accord (supposed to have a 3.866 FD). So.... paperweight in this case.

Maybe not... Do you still have the fifth gear from it?

Want to sell it?

It's not mine to sell, but i'm guessing it will be available for purchase. Will bring to the attention of the owner (zygspeed).

Thanks,
Matt

I do have an accord 5th gear that I bought on here some time ago, just have to find it in my Mom's basement (I did label the box though). Did you want to buy both the final drive and the 5th gear setup? Also have a BNIB Quaife that I bought years ago from Houseman that was supposed to be for my 1st gen Teg swap.

That being said, I still have an 86 Si (in addition to my 85) that the Teg swap was to go into ... but I'm recently considering liquidating all this 1st gen stuff and getting a CR-Z next year when the updated one comes out. blink.gif
