for years I have used a 6.5x14 flatbed trailer to get my car to the track.  In order to load the car on the trailer I have to put the rear truck tires up on oil change ramps, to lower the rear of the trailer.  Then use 7ft aluminum ramps to further reduce the angle.  In this YouTube short you can see it at the track a little.

I’ve been thinking more and more about getting an enclosed trailer so I can travel to events further away.  I don’t like the idea of parking in a hotel over night with everything right there to see.  So Friday I upgraded to a 7.5x16 all aluminum enclosed trailer that I will be able to drive the car right into without all of the extra steps.

will be nice to have a shady place to site during events as well!

Another towing upgrade occurred Friday!  On our 130mi trip to get the trailer we got 23.5 mpg.  On the return 130mi trip we got 9.5mpg .  Knew it would be lower but this was an empty 1910lb trailer.  Height and frontal area really worked the Tacomas V6.  This got me really worried about what it was going to look like when I put the car, fuel, jack, stands, and all the other track goodies I take with me in the trailer.  Probably bring the trailer to some where near 4100lbs.  The mpg is only going to get even worse and the range is probably going to be 180 miles or less per tank.

So upgraded to this!

2024 Ram 1500 with 5.7L Hemi.  Towing capacity is 11,000lbs vs the 6500lbs.  Everything I have seen and read said this will have zero trouble with my trailer.  Knew I was asking a lot of the Tacoma but was hopeful!

made out well on the trade in, which I usually never do due to low balls, but I got $3k less than what I paid for it three years ago and it has 37k miles on it.

still doing work on the trailer getting it ready but looking forward to trying it out!
